Wednesdays in the Watershed

Mid-week half-day hikes to special places in the watershed. If your work or school (or retirement!) allows, this is a great way to break up your week and avoid the weekend crowds. All outings listed here are lead by our Executive Director, Geoffrey Smith. Geoffrey is a qualified outing leader with over 25 years of backcountry outings experience. We look forward to getting to know you on these trips, as we get to know our watershed better!

Weekend Events

January 27, Saturday: Stream Monitoring Workshop

9:30 - 12:00
Lake San Marcos

TECC is committed to preserving the quality of water in Escondido Creek. Part of our work involves water quality monitoring. We have partnered with Golden State Flycasters, San Diego Coastkeeper, and San Diego Stream team to offer training in scientific macroinvertebrate sampling. This is fun and exciting work! Imagine wading in hip boots in the creek, capturing water samples with a special net, and analyzing the little critters (aka, benthic macroinvertebrates) under a microscope. Our testing results provide important scientific baseline data to guage the changing conditions in the stream. The training will be held in the 'Club Room' at Lake San Marcos at the following address: 1105 La Bonita Dr. Lake San Marcos, CA 92078. The phone number is 760-759-2273. Please RSVP with Lillian, lillian@sdcoastkeeper.org. For more information, contact the TECC office.
